Frank Gonzalez, B.M. - Drummer/Percussionist

Frank Gonzalez, born in El Paso, Texas, drawn to percussion at the early age of two, and is currently a college senior studying for a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education at the University of Texas at El Paso. Over the last couple of years he has been a member of the University Wind Symphony and Symphony Orchestra, serving as Principal Percussionist for both groups in the past year. Additionally, Frank has been the Principal Percussionist for the El Paso Symphony Youth Orchestra (EPSYOs) since 2006.
Frank has participated in Drum Corps International (DCI) with the prestigious Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps for the 2004 and 2006 seasons and aged out in the 2007 season. He also served as Section Leader for the corps' Front Ensemble in 2007. In the summer of 2006, Frank became the Keyboard Champion at the DCI Individual & Ensemble (I&E) Competition and was a member of the 2007 I&E Champion Blue Knights Percussion Ensemble.
Frank is a member of the Percussive Arts Society and has competed in the Percussive Arts Society International Convention Keyboard Competition where he placed 3 rd in 2006. Since 2003, he has been the percussion front ensemble technician and music arranger at Eastwood High School in El Paso. In his off-time, Frank works as a freelance percussion clinician and performer, having performed with the El Paso Youth Symphony Orchestra. He is also a private tutor for marimba and other percussion instruments and is a Promark Sticks Education artist. His primary teachers include Larry White, Demetrius Williams, Mark Saenz, Dan Darrah, and Jeff Ausdemore.
Frank is relocating to the metro Washington, DC/MD area with his wife and soon will be available for lessons and clinics in the region.
